A major exhibition by Rohan Hutchinson is currently on display at Gippsland Art Gallery. Entitled Polar Convergence, this ambitious work is based around a series of large format photographs captured by the artist during an expedition to the Arctic. Hutchinson journeyed to the end of the earth in hopes to document the sublime beauty, immensity and diversity of this untouched landscape. The photographs capturing during this journey have been reinterpreted by the artist in a bid to explain the impact of climate change on this delicate region. The final project includes two components; a series of large-form landscape photographs, and a collection of physical and chemical reworking produced by the artist. Polar Convergence continues at Gippsland Art Gallery until 20th August 2023.
