Kathryn Dolby Announced as Wollumbin Art Award Finalist 2024

Congratulations to Kathryn Dolby who has been named as a finalist in the 2024 Wollumbin Art Award at Tweed Regional Art Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre.

Kathryn Dolby notes: ‘Through an intuitive process of layering paint, I draw from the parallels between the chaos and calm of the elements in nature and human emotions to evoke sensation. 'Hidden Landscapes' serves as an ode to the quiet, interior landscapes we hold within ourselves—emotion, memory, the psyche, spirit, the often unseen and hidden world of motherhood—and a recognition of the stories of the land embedded in history that are gradually revealed through dialogue, experience and expression.’

The Wollumbin Art Award (WAA) is the Gallery’s biennial $30,000 award open to artists living in the Tweed, Ballina, Byron, Kyogle and Scenic Rim Shires, as well as Richmond Valley, Lismore and Gold Coast City.

The Award, named for the mountain the Gallery overlooks, celebrates the calibre and diversity of artists of the region.

The 2024 Judge is recently appointed Director of Hazelhurst Arts Centre, Sebastian Goldspink. A proud descendant of the Burramattagal people of Western Sydney, Goldspink is an independent curator with international and domestic experience.

Winners are announced on Saturday 7th September. The exhibition will be open from Friday 6th September – Sunday 24th November.
