Contemporary Sculpture

Sculpture holds its own within the stable of Australian and international artists at Otomys. Exhibiting works in a wide range of materials from bronze, steel, ceramic, glass, timber, cement and locally found materials - sculpture extends the engagement of three-dimensional art.

Of all the art mediums, sculpture allows more movement and touch;  you can walk around or re position the work at various angles, to take advantage of it’s shadows. Sculpture not only holds marks left by the maker's hand, it carries the logic of its own engineering. A work that stands in space must resolve itself at every angle, every perspective is considered.

The physical and narrative presence is what draws collectors to sculpture. It enters a dialogue with its environment, both indoors or out, in a domestic or institutional setting, and changes with the light, the season and the company it keeps. The sculpture at Otomys is selected for the integrity of the maker and the authority the work holds in a space.
