The Australian: Home Is Where the Art Is for Megan Dicks

Megan Dicks invites Sue Wallace from The Australian into her home to preview her private collection of art. Her collection showcases the vibrant works of both Australian and international artists she champions, as well as art that captivates her.

"Dicks believes art is a valuable touchpoint in a home, and her renovated triple-fronted 1890s house in Hawthorn is testament to that".

Wondering through the house, one will come across works by Otomys artists Greg Wood, Anna van der Ploeg, Sophia Szilagyi and sculptural work by Ben Sheers.

"The house has a lovely feel about it and the garden is lush and protected- you could almost be in the country, it's all quite timeless" says Dicks, who has lived there for 20 years.

Wallace informs readers of Dicks' past, growing up on a farm in Zululand, South Africa, she was always immersed in various art forms. "Our home was layered with interesting textiles, art, music, books and good conversation around the dinner table, but I am definitely not an artist. After doing many art classes, I accept that I'm purely an ethusiastic admirer of creative talent".
